摘要
The article highlights the main foreign policy factors in the formation of the Moldavian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. The authors focuse on the complex Soviet-Romanian relations regarding the territorial affiliation of Bessarabia and reveals the attemps of both states to resolve these issues through negotionation and later military means with the participation of the Entente. It is argued that after the failure of diplomacy, the Soviet government considered the formation of the autonomous union on the left bank of the Dniester, which could be used to exercise influence on the situation in Bessarabia. The ultimate goal of this formation was the accession of Bessarabia to the USSR.
