Corrosion behaviors of sintered and chemically vapor deposited silicon carbide ceramics in water at 360°C

摘要
Corrosion behaviors of sintered and chemically vapor deposited (CVD) silicon carbide ceramics in water was analyzed at 360°C. The highly pure CVD SiC ceramics exhibited a much better corrosion resistance than the sintered SiC in high-temperature water. The corrosion kinetics had a tendency to obey the parabolic rate law and the grain boundaries were preferentially attacked.
