摘要
Fabrics with water-proof properties are in high demand now a days because of its many engineering applications. In the present research work melt blown polyester non-woven fabric is used as base material and acrylic polymer coating material is used as a coating emulsion to develop waterproof coated fabrics. However. the coating process is completed using roller coating technique by applying the coating emulsion on varying layers of non-woven fabrics. Several technical tests has been conducted on the developed water proof material to assess the durability value of the water-proof coated fabrics. Physical tests like water repellent test, thickness test, Layer peeling test, Air permeability test, coating hardness tests coupled with SEM analysis and thermal property tests are performed on the water-proof coated fabrics. The results of the tests show excellent water repellent characteristics, chemical resistance, breaking strength and excellent durability for wear and tear.
