摘要
Obtaining continuing nursing education has long been an expectation for the ongoing professional development of the registered nurse. Accreditation for providers and approvers of continuing nursing education has been available since 1974 in the United States. Given the focus on quality outcomes(1) and the need for safe patient care in the contemporary healthcare environment, registered nurses require opportunities for professional development that maintain and enhance their ability to provide safe, effective high-quality care. Accreditation provides rigorous and objective evidence of the quality of education that supports nursing professional development.
