Magnetic properties of core-shell type Fe16N2 nanoparticles

摘要
Fe16N2 nanoparticles with a diameter of 20 nm were produced with ammonia nitrification of metallic Fe particles reduced from Fe oxide nanoparticles. The samples were gradually exposed to air and the outer side of 2 nm was oxidized. The particles exhibit coercivity as high as 3350 Oe. By using this core-shell type round shaped particles, uniaxial magnetic anisotropy K-u can be determined to be 4: 4 x 10(6) erg/cm(3) under no influence of large shape anisotropy originated from a thin film form. Exchange bias due to the interface between inner ferromagnetic Fe16N2 core and outer Fe oxides was found below 25 K. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
