A pair of angle-contact bearing is applied in a spindle component. Two work pieces shaped rings, named inner and outside ring, are used to adjust the clearance and rigidity of bearings. Because the size difference between two rings is much less, so it is very difficult to assure their size accuracy. It is not satisfactory to machine the faces of rings by grinding machine or to lap by hand. This double-side lapping machine tool can lap the faces of rings at free conditions, which overcomes the disadvantage in grinding or lapping by hand. The machine tool is vertical type and has two lapping plates named top plate and bottom plate respectively. These two lapping plates are driven by independent power and rotate at equal speed in opposite direction. A supporter that is used to hold the work piece is located the place between two plates and revolves at even speed. The top lapping plate applies a force on the parts. A cylinder can adjust the force between parts and lapping plates, so clearance lapping or pressure lapping can finish in this machine. In fact, the movement of parts is a complex of parts' rotate and supporter's movement. Therefore, it is impossible for grits to move at same locus and it is possible for grits to cut the protrusion in faces to increase shape accuracy. Some special technologies are applied in manufacturing and assembling to ensure concentricity of spindles. In order to increase the accuracy and prolong use time, the machine is equipped with a modifying device to turn lapping plates at line. It is testified that the machine is excellent at accuracy and efficiency.
