On the possible role of gamma-aminobutyric acid in thyroid carcinogenesis

摘要
In the minireview, the literature data concerning the link between activity of GABAergic system and mechanisms of carcinogenesis activation has been analysed. Additionally, the data of own investigations on GABA content in thyroid tumors are presented. It was shown that in papillary carcinoma tissue GABA level was significantly lower than that in the opposite lobe of thyroid without signs of tumor growth. At the same time, in the tissue of the thyroid lobe possessing pathomorphologic signs of malignization GABA concentration was significantly higher than that in thyroid lobe without signs of tumor growth.
