摘要
Allergic reactions to neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs) remain a major issue in anaesthesia NMBAs possess two quaternary ammonium ions which are necessary for their biological properties but which are also part of the epitope recognised by specific IgEs Immediate hypersensitivity allergic reactions occurring on induction of anesthesia with first exposure to NMBA has led to the hypothesis of pre-existent cross-reactive sensitisation following exposure to compounds in the environment which have a quaternary ammonium determinant Pholcodine is one of the substances which has been recognised as being potentially responsible for this sensitization However, the most recent epidemiologic studies have suggested that other substances which remained to be identified might equally be involved (C) 2010 Elsevier Masson SAS All rights reserved.
