Fast detection of volatile organic compounds with SnO2 gas sensor

摘要
In this study, the SnO2 gas sensor was used as the gas chromatography detector and emphasized on the feasibility of the approach for fast detection of voltatile organic compounds (VOCs) in environment gas was studied and discussed. Examinations of effect of applied voltage on response and temperature characteristics of the SnO2 gas sensor have been done. On combination of the gas sensor with a capillary GC column calibration curve was linear in the range of 10(3), minimum detectable concentration was 8.12 x 10(-4) g/L (for benzene as example), and reproducibility of peak area measured (RSD) was less than 6%. The final comparison of the SnO2 gas sensor with FID detector has also been carried out. Experimental results show that the SnO2 gas sensor as a GC detector can meet the requirements for fast analysis of VOCs in environment gases.
