Electrochemiluminescence determination of diethylstilbestrol at glassy carbon electrode modified with nano-cluster-structured manganese oxide

A new electrochemilumineseence ( ECL) method for the determination of diethylstilbestrol with a nano-cluster-structured manganese dioxide modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was proposed, which was based on the fact that nano-cluster-structured manganese dioxide could improve the electron transferring of GCE in alkaline medium ofluminol chemiluminescence system. Chitosan was chosen to enclose nano-cluster-structured MnO2, and then immobilized on the surface of GCE. The stability of the modified electrode and factors which affect electrochemiluminescence were investigated. The ECL intensity was linear with the concentration of diethylstilbestrol over the range from 3.5 x 10(-11) to 6.5 x 10(-9) mol/L, and the detection limit was 2.0 x 10(-11) mol/L. The relative standard deviation (n = 11) was 1.1% for 4.0 x 10(-10) mol/L dietbylstilbestrol. This method has been applied to detecting diethylstilbestrol tablet, and satisfying results were achieved.
