Revealing contamination on AFM cantilevers by microdrops and microbubbles

摘要
Contamination on atomic force microscopy (AFM) cantilevers was studied by microdrops and microbubbles. It was found that the microscopic contact angle method allows in the direct measurement of the wettability of the surface of the cantilever. It was suggested that organic contamination is localized and hydrophobic. It was concluded that plasma cleaning removes the silicone oil contamination, even from the tips.
