Adsorption of carbon monoxide on palladium particles incorporated into ion-exchange polymeric films

Chemisorption of carbon monoxide and electrooxidation of COads is studied on the Pd/PVP/GC and Pd/Nf/GC electrodes in sulfuric acid solutions by methods of potentiostatic current transients and cyclic voltammetry. It is shown that, during the CO chemisorption, the electrical double layer undergoes restructuring. On the Pd/Nf/GC and Pd/PVP/GC electrodes, molecules of COads are mainly present on the surface in the linear form mainly present on the surface Linear form. The specific behavior of Pd particles incorporated into Nf and PVP films in the COads oxidation is associated largely with the influence of the polymeric matrix, rather than with the degree of the electrodeposit dispersion.
