Synthesis and photocatalytic property of a new 1D metal-organic polymer

摘要
A new coordination polymer having composition [Zn(L)(phen)](n) (1) has been synthesized solvothermally usingl,4-bis(3-carboxylbenzyl)piperazine acid (H2L) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and Zn(II) salt. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed that 1 shows a 1D chain constructed by linking [Zn(phen)](2+) units via L ligands, which further generates a 2D layer through strong pi center dot center dot center dot pi stacking interactions operating between the pyridyl rings of phen ligands and piperazine ring from adjacent networks along the c axis. The photocatalytic property of 1 in photo-degradation of methyl violet (MV) has been explored. The possible mechanism has been addressed using density of states (DOS) and partial DOS (pDOS) calculations.
