A dialogue with texts - interpretation in the light of Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutics

This essay is based on Gadamer's hermeneutical philosophy and elucidates the possibilities and challenges of interpreting texts, which might be useful in qualitative nursing and caring science research. The purpose of the essay is to contribute to an understanding of text interpretation, and this can be helpful to researchers who need insight into a hermeneutical approach. Attention is drawn to the interpretation of "de Sache" and selected parts of Gadamer's philosophy. Key concepts that are part of hermeneutical understanding are highlighted, such as, the research interest, the horizons of understanding, dialogue, searching for the beautiful, fusion of horizons, linguisticization of meaning and application. The interpretation takes place through a dialogue with texts, through letting the matter itself emerge by listening to the tone of what is said, and thus events of truth through word formation can be experienced.
