摘要
Knowledge management adoption in higher education institutions is still limited. Essentially, higher education institutions have not developed their knowledge management approaches to an advanced level as opposed for instance to business and industry. The increasing use of technology in learning practices however, has brought new technology-enhanced learning solutions that provide an opportunity by linking this tangible basis to the (often) non-tangible elements of a knowledge management process. This paper maintains the significance of utilising learning analytics for knowledge management implementation in higher education institutions. It argues that knowledge management is essential to support improvements and innovation of analytical processes, which are essential for robust learning analytics. Moreover, learning analytics is required to be embedded in the organisation's strategic vision, and knowledge management can help an organisation translate its strategic vision into action. As such, the mapping between these institutions' products and the industry needs might still be lacking. Learning analytics, given the introduction and spread of virtual learning environments, provides an unprecedented opportunity for higher education institutions to improve their knowledge management initiatives. This is believed to bridge the gap between manufacturing and its education.
