摘要
The target article by Clark et al. (2022) deals with an extremely important topic for the social sciences. It is deftly argued, and it contains a great deal of wisdom and a terrific list of potential topics that lend themselves to adversarial collaborations (AC). Our comments are intended to expand what is already an important and wellreasoned argument, in the hope of persuading editors and professional societies to provide institutional support to incentivize the commissioning and publication of ACs. This can be accomplished by agreeing in advance to publish ACs and advertise them as “Special Adversarial Collaborative Reports,” making them the lead article and having the journal’s press office promote them to the media. But we are getting ahead of ourselves. Why are ACs so important that editors should commission them and in advance offer to publish them, much like some journals now offer in advance to publish preregistered replications? © 2022.
