Inhibitory spectrophotometric determination of microamounts of thiosulfate based on the oxidizing discoloration reaction between crystal violet and hydrogen peroxide

摘要
A new inhibitory spectrophotometric determination of trace thiosulfate has been developed. It is based on the Oxidizing discoloration reaction between crystal violet and hydrogen peroxide on heating and in the medium of pH=5.0-6.0. Beers law is obeyed in the range of 4.5x10(-5) to 4.5x10(-4) g/L and the detection limit for S2O32- is 3.2x10(-6) g/L. The method has been applied to the determination of S2O32- in the wasted fixing solution with satisfactory result.
