摘要
The rapid requirement in the area of materials science indeed requires special characteristic material to compete the products in modern day competitive industrial sector, of which coating of the material emerging as the newly research to feed the material to the modern day industries. In this particular research, the outer surface of the piston has been coated with commonly available ceramic material PSZ/Al2O3. The binding material was chosen as Ni-Al, with help of the plasma spraying technique, in the aim of significantly reducing the heat transfer from combustion chamber to other structural parts of the engine the performance analysis tests were done. Out of this research, the results of the coated engine were compared with non coated (piston) engine by using the single cylinder water cooled diesel engine. It was found that the thermally insulated engine improves the peak pressure, rate of heat release, thermal efficiency, exhaust gas temperature, nitric oxide emission and surface characteristics in remarkable way; in turn it emphasizes the durability of the engine in greater way.
