摘要
The scientists from Czech Republic have started their research in Antarctica in 1927 and it continues up to the present day. In 2007 the first Czech polar base became operational. It is called Czech Mendel's Antarctic Base on James Rosse Island. The scientists use voice and data services. Voice communication is realized via Iridium satellite network. Data services require higher bit rates, which are offered by Inmarsat satellite network. The price for these services depends on specific terminal features and quantity of transferred data. Two example designs are included in order to demonstrate data transfer optimalization. The first one is focused on data IP optimization and the second one considers FTP optimization. Different compression methods and ciphering are considered.
