摘要
Cauda equina syndrome (CES) is a rare diagnosis caused by a compressive lesion in the lumbar spine affecting some or all of the L1-S5 peripheral nerve roots. CES produces a constellation of symptoms including lower extremity sensory and motor loss, bowel/bladder dysfunction, and perianal anesthesia. Accurate diagnosis along with appropriate timing of intervention is key for these patients in order to ensure optimal functional outcomes.
