Single crystal diamond particles formed by the reaction of carbon black and solid alcohol under high-pressure and high-temperature

摘要
The paper presents results of high-pressure and high-temperature (HPHT) experiments on the formation of diamond particles from precursors a mixture consists of carbon black powder and pentaerythritol of a solid alcohol. X-ray diffraction, FE-SEM and TEM methods as well as Raman spectroscopy have been used for char-acterization of the precursors and formed crystals. The main idea is to avoid any catalyst-based material at HPHT diamond synthesis from carbon materials. The successful formation of cubic structure single crystal diamond particles around 10 mu m size during an extremely shorter time (5 s) at 7.5 GPa and 1500 celcius is demonstrated.
