摘要
We report intensity-dependent femtosecond transient absorption measurements to explore the photophysics of a model step-ladder pi-conjugated polymer. At low pump fluence, the lowest-lying singlet exciton (1B(u)) is the only photoexcitation, but at high fluence triplet-exciton and polaron absorption features are evident in ultrafast timescales (within 100 fs). We find a two-step photogeneration mechanism for these long-lived species, with the 1B(u) exciton as the intermediate. Detailed photophysical modelling reveals that the effective yield of sequentially excited species is 15%, with a branching ratio of triplet-excitons to polarons similar to 5%.
