摘要
The exercise of fishing activity triggers damage to the marine environment. In order to diagnose the degree of knowledge about environmental education in responsible of vessels of platform species of the Industrial Fishing Company of La Coloma, in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, it was applied a methodology for the diagnosis of environmental education that allowed: to describe the community; to determine information needs; to use the questionnaire as primary information source; to select the sample (43 responsible of vessels: 23 lobster-catching vessels, and 20 of scales species-catching vessels) and to process the information. It was found that: 78.3 % of those lobster-catching vessels did not know all the parameters established for the mentioned work; the same occurred in both study groups (p>0.05), in relation to the effects of oily waters discharged into the sea and areas under special protection; 80% of those scales' species-catching vessels did not recognize all the species declared as toxic. The application of management plans and the effective management of natural resources, were the actions less identified by those responsible of lobstercatching vessels in response to eliminating / mitigating environmental problems. It is concluded that responsible of vessels of EPICOL platform species, have a low degree of knowledge about environmental education. It confirms the need of carrying out environmental education actions in this group of workers from the fishing activity.
