摘要
A key issue in the evaluation of the development of a region is the understanding of mutually relevant interacting factors between socio-economic conditions for the life of the inhabitants, which are reflected in the structure of settlement and the traditional economic sectors of the given territory. Only on the basis of a sound understanding of these relationships can instruments of regional development be sought, whether they are administrative, conceptual, institutional, material, socio-psychological or financial. The evaluation is based on the fact that the town is the basis of the region. It must be realized that regional differences cannot be evaluated solely on the basis of a simple list of indicators for the given town. The differences identified must be viewed within the context of the broader territory, general patterns and spatial relations. The aim of this publication is to present the results of the evaluation proposal for the Liberec Region (Czech Republic), to be used for practical application (regional agencies, centres, departments of regional development and educational and research institutions in the area), made using our own methodology (assessment on the basis of seven identified significant factors for the state of economic development), comparing the years 2007 and 2011.
