摘要
Experimental studies have shown that insulin-like growth factor (IGF)2 enhances fetal growth, whereas its receptor (IGF2R) is assumed to be suppressive. In this study, we tried to identify two types of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the IGF2 gene (+3123 ApaI and +3580 MspI), and three types of SNPs within the exon of the IGF2R gene (+901C > G, +5002A > G and +6206A > G), which are related to birth weight. For +3123 ApaI polymorphism of the IGF2 gene, the birth weight SDUs according to neonate's genotype showed significant differences between the -/-, +/-, and +/+ groups. For +901C > G polymorphism of the IGF2R gene, when the alleles were classified by parental origin, a significant difference in birth weight SDU was found between the maternally derived C and G alleles. Therefore we succeeded to identify SNPs that are related to fetal growth in both gene regions.
