Standardization of the "Fragebogen zur Beurteilung des eigenen Korpers" (FBeK) in a community-based sample of the German population

The "Fragebogen zur Beurteilung das eigenen Korpers" (FBeK) is one of the most widespread questionnaires applied in Germany for assessing peoples' subjective views of their own bodies. In 1996 the handbook was published but without standardized norms based on a representative sample. The present study fills in this gap. In a large-scale representative survey the questionnaire was completed by 2.047 Germans aged between 14 and 95 years. The resulting norms are presented and the psychometric features of the instrument tested.
