Typification of Linnaean and Cavanilles names in the genus Malva (Malvaceae) for the Spanish flora

The typification of the Linnaean names Malva hispanica and M. tournefortiana are discussed. An illustration from Plukenet's Phytographia and a specimen from LINN are designated as the lectotypes of the names M. hispanica and M. tournefortiana, respectively. An epitype (LINN) is also designated for the name M. hispanica using a specimen from LINN. The names M. spithamea, M. stipulacea and M. trifida are also studied and respectively lectotypified using a specimen from the Cavanilles Herbarium (MA) and illustrations from Asso's Synopsis stirpium indigenarum Aragoniae and Cavanilles's " Dissertatio Botanico". The names M. stipulacea and M. spithamea are taken respectively as synonyms of M. trifida and M. hispanica.
