Researchers conducted investigations and found the mixed-halogen approach is able to improve the connectivity in a series of organic−inorganic bismuth halides (OIBHs). The researchers found that mixed-halogen approach is able to improve the connectivity in a series of OIBHs. Single crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that the pure halide compounds had normal 1D inorganic components, while the remaing compound with mixed halogens had a unique 2D inorganic anion structure. Electrical conductivity measurements showed that the remaining compound had the highest conductivity and a simple device using 4 as light absorber showed efficient photoconductivity response and very high stability under longtime irradiation.
