The politics of Black Evangelicals - What hinders diversity in the Christian right?

Despite the fact that African Americans hold evangelical beliefs, belong to evangelical denominations, and show high levels of religiosity, Black Evangelicals do not mobilize with the Christian Right. By evaluating two major theories of evangelical mobilization, the data demonstrate that the major reason for this is not primarily a lack of conservative positions on family values issues but major differences in affect toward highly visible groups that provide much of the content of symbolic political attitudes.
