Teachers and the fight against violence at school: bullying and responsibility

摘要
This article aims to create a dialogue on the bullying fenomenon and the role of teachers in its identification and suppression. For that purpose, one seeks to understand the concept of bullying through several authors and the analyses of semi-structured interviews with teachers from the ninth year of five elementary schools in a Brazilian capital. During the interviews, one realizes that the teachers struggle to define what is, in fact, bullying. Thus, as a consequence of this inability to define it, there is a difficulty in identifying it and organizing effective actions against it. Finally, we highlight the importance of conducting research and creating dialogue in schools on this issue, so that education can be a way to combat violence, in this case especially, bullying.
