摘要
Observation of the suppression the Mg17Al12 phase formation by forming a highly stable Al11La3 phase was reported. The application of this alloy is restricted to temperatures below 120°C because of the reduction in strength and creep properties due to poor thermal instability of the microstructure. The alloys were analyzed using a Pilips PW 1710 powder X-ray diffractometer with Cu Kα radiation. The x-ray diffraction pattern obtained from the Z3 alloy contains peaks that confirm the presence of A111La3 precipitates with mg matrix and β phase.
