The Antimicrobial Activity and Composition of Fleischmannia pratensis Leaf Essential Oil from Monteverde, Costa Rica

摘要
The leaf essential oil of Fleischmannia pratensis (Asteraceae) was obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC-MS. A total of 35 compounds were identified in the leaf oil (99.4% of the composition), which was dominated by the sesquiterpenes (E)-caryophyllene (26.1 %) and germacrene D (49.1 %). The essential oil was screened for antimicrobial activity against Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans, and Aspergillus niger. E pratensis leaf oil only showed activity against Bacillus cereus (MIC = 39 mu g/mL).
