Clear Aligner Use Following Surgery-First Mandibular Prognathism Correction

This case report introduces a treatment in mandibular prognathism correction by combining the surgery-first (SF) approach and clear aligners. An intraoral scanner (TRIOS 3, 3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark) and a virtual setup program (OrthoAnalyzer, 3Shape) were used for treatment simulation. All clear aligners were fabricated using a 3-dimensional printer. The total treatment was completed within 3 months after surgery. An immediate improvement of the facial profile was obtained using the SF approach, and rapid and esthetic tooth movement was achieved using clear aligners. This case report demonstrated that the combination of the SF approach and clear aligners could be a patientoriented surgical-orthodontic treatment method.
