Experimental Study of the Interference Resistance of Pentamaran Asymmetric Side-Hull Configurations

摘要
An experimental investigation has been performed to assess the relation of interference performances on the total resistance of pentamaran model advancing in calm water. For this motive, total drag of the ship has been carried out for several values of the asymmetric side-hull positions and hull separations at changing the Froude number in the range 0.3-0.9. Our results indicate that a remarkable change of resistance require notable changes in transverse distance values ( hull separation) when wave interference may take place. On top of that, there is no single configuration that constancy out-performed the others across the entire speed range, and the optimum interference factor (-0.2) appears at Froude number of 0.45 by the outriggers outer position: asymmetric outboard.
