Theories of understanding and hermeneutical problematics in contemporary Anglo-American philosophy

The article deals with the conceptions of understanding in the philosophy of P. Winch, Ch. Taylor, P. de Man, H. Bloom and K. Rorty. Special attention is paid to analysis of epistemological, methodological, socio-cultural and ethical dimension of understanding and its relation to cultural tradition. In this connection there is also reflected the influence of Wittgenstein's later philosophy, hermeneutics and postmodernism to contemporary Angle-American post-analytic philosophy.
