RuB-PVP colloidal catalysts: Preparation and catalytic performance in selective hydrogenation of benzene to cyclohexene

A series of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-stabilized RuB colloidal catalysts have been successfully prepared with the diameters of RuB in the range of 1.3 similar to 3.9 nm with narrow size distribution. In benzene selective hydrogenation, it was found that the RuB-PVP catalyst with smaller particle size exhibited higher activity and selectivity. Moreover, the RuB-PVP catalysts have much better performance than the RuB catalyst without the stabilization of PVP under the same reaction condition.
