摘要：

After prescribing chondroitin sulfate (CS) for the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA), it was observed that patients with concomitant psoriasis (Ps) experienced a marked improvement of the psoriatic lesions(1-2). In view of this encouraging results and since NSAIDs, often used in the management of OA, have been reported to precipitate or to exacerbate preexisting Ps(3) we designed a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of CS in patients with both Ps and knee OA. The obtaining of positive results in the study, which protocol here we describe, could represent an important advance in the therapeutic armamentarium given the excellent safety profile of CS and the possibility to make up for the lack of treatment in patients with both pathologies.
