Self-consistent analysis of the contact phenomena in low-mobility semiconductors

Self-consistent solution of charge injection and charge transport in low mobility light emitting diodes (LEDs) is reported. We show that an explicit description of the contact region under the same premise as the transport equations is needed to accurately evaluate the current-voltage characteristics of polymer or small-molecule based LEDs. The results are compared to widely used models, which treat the contact region in an implicit manner. (C) 2003 American Institute of Physics.
