The influence of the aliphatic alcohols on the reduction of copper(II) ions on a dropping mercury electrode

摘要
The influence of the aliphatic alcohols (methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, n-butanol, and n-pentanol) on the reduction of Cu(II) ions in 0.5 M H2SO4 on a dropping mercury electrode (DME) was investigated. DC-and AC-polarography as well as tensammetry were used. These methods allowed to follow the course of the electrode reactions and that of the adsorption processes effected by the presence of organic substances in the electrolyte.
