Synthesis and anticonvulsant screening of 2-(substituted aryl)-3-(4H, 1,2,4-triazol-4-yl), 1,3-thiazolidin-4-ones

A series of 2-(substituted aryl)-3-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)-1,3-thiazolidin-4-ones (2a-p) were synthesized and screened for their anticonvulsant profile and neurotoxicity. The structures of the compounds have been elucidated on the basis of their elemental and spectral data. The compounds 2d and 2p were potent anti MES agents showing no sign of neurological deficit whereas compounds 2a, 2b and 2c were also potent but neurotoxic.
