摘要
Introduction: Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a severe diabetes complication. Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of Jiedu Tongluo Treatment (JDTL) at slowing down the progress of diabetic cardiomyopathy, its effects on myocardial dysfunction induced by diabetes, and its clinical efficacy in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Method: A total of twenty-four SD male rats were randomly grouped into a diabetes mellitus group (DMG, n=16) and a control group (CG, n=8) with a diabetes model established by intraperitoneal streptozotocin injection. Sixteen rats in the DMG were randomised into the JDTL group (JDTLG, n=8) and the DCM group (DCMG, n=8). Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), fractional shortening (FS), and Doppler velocity (E/A) in diabetic rats were lower than in the control group (P<0.05). Results: The cardiac function parameters LVEF, FS and E/A ratio of rats were all increased after JDTL treatment (P<0.05). Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione (GSH) activity in myocardium from diabetic rats was significantly reduced (P<0.05) compared to CG, while malondialdehyde (MDA) and reactive oxygen (ROS) levels were increased (P<0.05). The above harmful indicators were significantly reduced after twelve weeks of JDTL treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion: JDTL plays an effective role in treating cardiomyopathy caused by diabetes by suppressing cardiac oxidative stress, thus ameliorating cardiac fibrosis and cardiomegaly.
