Assessment of rockburst prevention using seismic profiling and tomography techniques in Polish coal mines

Rockburst prevention includes a wide range of tasks carried out at all stages of mining activity. Its costs in mines under high rockburst hazard consitute a substantial share in the recovery costs. Therefore, the need to control and assess prevention effectiveness using measuring techniques has existed for many years. Possibilities of implementing the task by seismic surveys in underground coal mines are presented. It has been shown that seismic measurements are the most informative and technological ways of assessing the effectiveness of the basic preventive solutions.
