Magnetostatic manipulation of beams of laser-cooled atoms

摘要
We report progress towards the development of magnetostatic optical elements for manipulating beams of slowly moving laser-cooled atoms for use in atom optics and matter-wave interferometry. Experimental results are presented for the deflection of a beam of free-falling laser-cooled caesium atoms by the inhomogeneous magnetic field from a current-carrying wire.
