摘要
The design of golf clubs heads has been characterized by a variety of terms relating to the response of golfers to the 'feel' of the club. Shaft stiffness, club weight and head design are among some of the parameters that are involved in the design process to appeal to this 'feel' factor. Another variable that is often touted as a major factor in 'feel' is the material of the head. A consensus of professional golfers claim that forged heads 'feel' better than cast heads. This study attempts to identify possible parameters associated with these different manufacturing processes that might account for this conclusion. Natural frequencies of a series of heads were identified. The damping for these modes was also analyzed. The results of these tests are reported and conclusions drawn on the significance of 'feel.
