This paper reports work conducted at the CRC-ACS for the manufacture of advanced composite structural demonstrators using a resin film infusion (RFI) process. The influences of a number of processing parameters on the quality of cured parts are discussed. A number of demonstrators are presented including an aileron skin panel, swaged wing rib and 3-bay aft-box structure. These demonstrators indicate the cost-effectiveness of the RFI process for manufacture of advanced composite structures. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
