摘要：

Water resources carrying capacity is used to reflect the supporting ability of the water resources system for sustainable society development, and it is an important issue in the field of water resources research and sustainable development. In practice, water resources carrying capacity is a basic theory of local water resources exploitation. Therefore, through researching local water resources carrying capacity, we can not only understand the supporting function of the water resources system for social development, harmonize developmental relationships among the population, resources and environment but also realize the social sustainable development well. The paper expounds the concept of water resources carrying capacity, connotation and characteristics deeply, and discusses several main evaluation methods of water resources carrying capacity, After analyzing the existing problems on the research of the field at present it explores the perspectives of water resources carrying capacity.
