摘要
Ipomea staphylina leaf extract was investigated as corrosion inhibitor for mild steel using techniques such as electrochemical, mass loss and surface analytical studies. Results of the investigation proved the effective nature of the inhibitor. Ipomea staphylina could bring out a maximum of 92.77 % IE for mild steel corrosion in 1M HCl. The inhibitor used in the current study followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm which indicated the monolayer formation with heterogeneity in the surface of the electrode. Thermodynamic parameters inferred the spontaneous adsorption of inhibitor molecules on the metal surface. Polarization curves obtained in the presence of the extract indicated the mixed nature of the inhibitor under study. Thus Ipomea staphylina extract has been proved to be zero cost, eco-friendly and highly economical inhibitor. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
