摘要
Religion and Secularization. Spain, an Exception in Europe? center dot In a historical and global-local perspective, the present essay aims to understand the Spanish socio-religious situation. In Spain, from the end of the fifteenth century, Catholicism became a key element to homogenize the population. Later, in the 19th and 20th centuries, the Catholic religion defined the existence of a (supposed) Spanish nation, instead of admitting the plurinationality of the state. These elements are essential to understanding the peculiar situation of Catholicism in Spain.
