The contribution of computer-assisted cognitive training procedures to the diagnosis of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder

摘要
Objective During diagnosis of ADHD, standardized psychometric tests for the measurement of attention deficits are routinely performed. Methods 79 children suffering from ADHD had to complete two adaptive tasks of the computer aided cognitive training software X-Cogs', a German attention test and the German Version of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children. Results Pronounced correlations of the computer aided cognitive tasks with the attention test and weaker, but still significant, relations with the intelligence measure were found. Conclusion Our results give rise to the expectation that computer aided cognitive tasks may be an alternative to classic psychometric testing that is less stressful for investigators and patients.
