Large eddy simulation of a 3D square channel flow past a wall-mounted rectangle cylinder

摘要
Large eddy simulation was. applied to simulate a 3D square channel compressible flow past a wall-mounted rectangle cylinder. The calculated results are comparable to the results of both previous experimental and numerical results which showed the formation and diffusion of eddies around the cylinder. Furthermore, our results also showed that when Reynolds number of the compressible flow is less than 250, the flow inside the channel is almost stable, no vortex shedding occurs and the flow is a 2D laminar flow, however, when the Re > 250, the vorticity on the top of square become shedding periodically, and results to a turbulent cylinder wake. In addition, the effect of the height of a rectangle cylinder to the channel flow has also been simulated, and it was found the higher the rectangle is, the larger the affected area become on the downstream of cylinder inside the channel.
